KID PARTY DAY!!!!!
Today Mimz and I had the second annual backyard birthday carnival party. Looking back, last year was like the trial run and this year was the real deal...it was a great party... if the kids let us do a carnival for the two of them again next year I bet it will be AMAZING!
The whole point of the backyard carnival is to forgo the commercial birthday business which has pulled everyone in, and I really think it was a success, at least enough of one that everyone had a great time which is the entire point of a birthday party, aye? So, wondering what we did? Of course you are, sorry, I am exhausted and there is no drink in my hand so the words are just not flying out quite right at the moment. Still, you have to give me some credit for having the wherewithal to start up a new blog today now that we have Internet and a computer again, sometimes you just need a tiny bit of money to feel like life is a-ok, right?
So we have this two room wooden structure which looks like connected houses without roofs and we strung lights up over the openings. Inside we had 'the strange oddities of the world' which was glass jars of mermaids, veggie man, space rocks, smallest baby in the world etc. On the other side we made a chilla pilla room for kids to retreat to when they needed to take a break (especially for our sensory issue kids). We also had a dive for sunken treasures pool, a fish pond, a ring toss game, a craft table, a 'creepy crawly tunnel, the make your own cupcake -hit of the party- table, and then the kids toys like soccer, slides and a sprinkler because it was freakin HOT!!! Well, so the heat turned the party into a WATER carnival, which was fine... and I think we all were still totally happy with our kick ass carnival! Oddly enough... the tattoo table was a dud, what kid doesn't want a tattoo??????
Now, I am ZONKED!!!! But, I was itching to write. ...posted by mum...
